Lately I have been fascinated about the discussions surrounding bloggers, who knew that simple individuals with a willingness to express themselves, whether this be by writing, clothing, or any other form of expression, would create such huge debates. Indeed, it seems that many are intrigued, but also criticise and analyse in depth, the impact and the legitimacy of bloggers. Many high end magazines seem to dislike them (us, not quite use to being part of the blogosphere yet), partnerships and gift receiving are frowned upon, and every little detail is microscopically analysed, and for what? I have yet to fin d a logical explanation, appart from the fact that bloggers are becoming an increasingly fast growing generation of open minded people who will say and do what is on their mind, connected together at all corners of the world, giving them a louder voice and thus power of influence that many couldn’t even dream of.
I think people are just going to have to get over themselves (Yes Anna Wintour, Tavi will be sitting in the front row of many fashion shows to come and she won’t be the only blogger either) and accept the reality of thing, bloggers are here and it looks like they are here to say with a lot on their minds. Indeed, there is an endless amount of ink and paper here in the blogosphere.
So here is a little outfit post, love this Yesstyle fleece jacket, just the best. Yesstyle has yet to disappoint me. I brought these dress in several colours and its actually really soft and great to wear. I guess most of you got something from the Graden Collection this weekend, I got quite a few pieces I will share with you sometime soon. But I didn’t manage to get my hands on the lovely red rose dress (sigh). I have been asked quite a few time by my french readers to translate my blog, as the requests have become increasingly numerous I am seriously considering translating my posts, however I am worried it won’t translate that well. Do you have any suggestions regard this?

Maybe it’s because we are down to earth and real and that we have so many different styles and approach to fashion that people (and brands!) like us (bloggers) so much. Maybe it’s because they feel threatened by us that journalists despise us …
Moi, je dis longue vie à la Blogosphère!
And WOW I love your jacket!

Love how you styled the top with the lace tights! As for the fight bloggers get – I figure people get scared when there’s a group over which the ‘establishment’ has no control or really can’t dictate how & when things should be done.
Wow your jacket is stunning!! And you look great

That dress really is perfect. I need something like that in my wardrobe!
.
As far as the blogging issue- I think blogging really could upset the entire future of magazines! It has the advantage of being totally immediate, not printed and viewed weeks later. It’s no wonder editors are shaking in their boots
I completely agree with you, who wants to wait especially for things that expire so quickly. But I do like to go and and get a nice big copy of vogue or Elle, but its less for the trends and news and more for the ideas, and photos..
I really like how Lucky magazine embraces bloggers. Especially fashion and design bloggers. They see it as an extra way to get the word out about new clothing and designers.
great post! i agree!

I don’t know… I’m a little tired of the whole fashion old-guard vs. bloggers thing. I think some are threatened that they’re not the be-all, end-all when it comes to saying what’s in or not, others think that bloggers don’t have any experience in being a critic. Whatever it may be, I can’t believe that it’s such a huge issue!
1. When it comes to being paid or compensated for a review, I think a blogger should be honest about that. But also, readers shouldn’t be hurt or offended by the fact that a blogger is compensated for writing. People need to eat/shop!
2. As for bloggers being in the front row or doing Fashion Week reviews, fashion editors need to GET OVER IT! Jeez. Either become more relevant, or be quiet. Aren’t designers allowed to invite whoever they want to shows?
Um… wow, I really went on a rant, eh?
As for the French translation thing, are you a native speaker? If so, I wouldn’t worry about it translating well. If not, I would suggest not being too literal with your translations, like if you use slang… try to find the corresponding phrase instead of translating word for word… stuff like that.
Nope not a rant, a great opinion and this is exactly why I asked you guys your thoughts on this, love reading what you all think
I have read so much about these issues of gift giving and receiving and I must admit I am now scared to even except collaboration with designers and shops because of all the critics, then I snap out of it and think that i would never hide it from my readers and if I like their stuff why not? It’s not always about the free stuff though. Might sound silly but you get to meet amazing people and discover new talent and ‘test drive’ their stuff and if they contact you I say why not.
haha now I’m ranting
I’m bilingual, so it wouldn’t be a problem just worried I will ge tired of it and thus write less, oh well we will see
xx
Wow, you girls could rule the world! Ahah. I totally agree with the part where you say that “you get to meet amazing people and discover new talent and ‘test drive’ their stuff and if they contact you I say why not.”
The clutch is my favorite! You look hot in those lace tights!
Thanks sweetie!!

I agree abut the blogger thing. We are here to stay and want to express ourselves and opinions just like all other media outlets!
I’d love to meet up in London, or we could even have a bloggers meet-up! I’m not sure about mid-April though (still exam time for me), but possibly in late May or June?

Quand tu as découvert mon Blog il y a quelques mois maintenant, tu m’as demandé comment cela se faisait-il que je vivais entre Bruxelles et Londres. Aujourd’hui, je te retourne la question?
