So I normally do my trend posts on Wednesday but I a fair bit of news I wanted to share with you so here goes. First of all,l as most of you know (okay maybe just a few of you then) I am British but have lived in Belgium most of my life. I have been studying here in the UK for the last four years and today was my last exam here so these next two weeks will be my last in the UK and then I am heading back of to Brussels and then onto Brugges for my masters. Why am I telling you all of this, well it is quite simple I have come to realise that even thought blogging knows no real geographical borders (or others for that matter), bloggers seem to attract readers from their country or region which is a phenomenon I have yet to fully understand but one that I want to explore.

Anyway, this move back to Brussels got me thinking that I should start to connect more with my francophone and Belgium readers as I have done with my british and uk readers. This coincides perfectly with the great news (well I seem to think) that this blog is this months Belgium ELLE ‘blog of the month’. I was shocked and pleasantly surprised at this bit of news, I don’t normally bore you with the features of my blog but this one had to be shared!

Secondly, the little project I was working on with Hypeed is now finished. The editorial ‘Down to Earth’ , featuring the lovely Dylanna Suarez for which I was the guest editor looks great and I am happy with the result, the Hypeed team sure know how to makes lovely editorial with real people, yes an emphasise on the ‘real’ aspect of the editorials. So go and check it out and if you like the idea of participating in editorial fro and from you the why not try it out and participate in any (or all) of their next calls; take a bow, play it cool with a cat suit, the clog come back…

Finally, some time this week I will add a ‘Shops to shop’ section on the right hand side of the blog. It will be a selection of my favorite online shops and a link to discover the best places in London and Brussels (and anywhere else for that matter). So keep an eye out for this!

Today it was about big curls and 80’s gold blazers, ahh the joys of finding unexpected items in unexpected places and then wearing them in (well in my case) expected ways. So here you have my outfit of today, pretty laid back and yes, no heels! Founds these pumps in Primark last weekend and I think I brought them in just about every colour, perfect for spring/summer.

Why was yesterday a proud day for yours truly? Well, I was contacted a while back by the lovely Sharon, founder of FocusOnStyle who to my great surprise wanted little old me to do recurring contributor’s articles for FocusOnStyle. As FashionCloud is mainly about how bloggers dress and the trends that they seem to be ‘following’ and adapting into their own personal style, we thought it would be great to do ‘One piece, Four different styles, Four fashion bloggers’. And just yesterday the first ‘One, Four,Four’ was launched and since then I have been walking around like a proud mum with a bit stupid grin on my face. A student, a daughter, a girlfriend, a friend, a shopaholic, and now a blogger,

When I am asked to define my style, I find myself lost for words. Firstly, I don’t really believe in having to define and categorize everything all the time. Secondly, I would be the most unfaithful person to any (and all) of these categories as I like to experiment and will just about try anything.

In other words, I wear what I like and what I feel like wearing at that precise time and place. Now, sometimes it works and others it doesn’t, but at least I can say I have tried it. This being said, no matter what I wear I do try never to fade away or hide behind my clothes, or worse be someone I am not.

As most redheads will tell you, we already stand out in a crowed and because of this I often down play my outfits in orders to blend in. Indeed, I like things simple, and even though I am a sucker for handbags, packing on jewelry, crazy shoes and all the other amazing things one can do with fashion, I more often than not find myself leaving the house with a watch as unique accessory.  And this I often regret, as one simple detail on an outfit can really make it that much more personal.

Fashion trends frustrate me but also fascinate me. I am more often than not, too late on a trend or too soon catching on. Either way, I just figure that trends will come back round if I miss it the first time around. So, even though I don’t believe in following the trends to a T, I do believe that it is these same trends that push people to think outside of the box. Thus, making the fashion blogosphere, created by today’s youth, the most incredible journey anyone could take.

I’m back from what was, both an incredible stay in the stunning city of Rome and the reality check that fashion is non-existent in Rome. It took us more than 48 hours to get back to the UK because of the snow (this is my excuse for my lack of  recent posts), anyway I’m finally back and I thought I would post an outfit that I wore just before I left for Rome. I found this little red coat at the bottom of my wardrobe it must be at least 6 years old, but I kind of like it’s quirkiness. Inspired by my earlier post, une touche de rouge.

Wearing: Cos dress (not seen here but you will soon, very old H&M coat, and Zara wedges.

I will fill you in very soon on the never ending journey to Rome and post some (what I hope will be) amazing pictures, meanwhile I have to face my final thesis, my 900 RSS feeds (serves me right for following so many of you) and an abandoned looking rabbit.

UPDATE: you might have noticed that there is a new addition on FashionCloud, you can now ‘like’ a post. I have done this because, from my personal experience and when discussing with other bloggers, sometimes we might really like something but either don’t have the time or can’t find the right words to write a comment. So do feel free to ‘like’ what you, well, like!
