At Home in Brussels

ph/me

Space, loads and loads of space. How I miss my affordable Brussels apartment. Of course, I am thrilled to be in London - a city that never sleeps and that embraces fully the Christmas spirit - but boy do I miss the space, I won't even mention the closet space :/ We have finally settled in, and just in time for Christmas may I add. As I was browsing my computer, it hit me that I had never shared with you were I lived in Brussels. So I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to share with you the things I miss most about my Brussels apartment. Both my friends and my boyfriend taunt me on the fact that I have a huge box and jar fetish. The jars full of - now uneatable - marshmallows was a brilliant idea I stole from Dorothy. Hopefully, I can share soon pictures form our London apartment too.

The Fashion Show, Second hand, second life, is one of the most highly anticipated fashion events here in Brussels. It is also one with heart. The best Belgian designers and stylists, as well as the young up-and-coming talents, have been happily giving their time for the last ten years to take part in this event. Every year they outdo themselves by creating the most impressive and original pieces from old scraps of material and second hand clothes that have been donated by thousands of people. When creativity and generosity comme together you truly get one spectacular show. These one of a kind pieces then go up for auction during the rest of the evening, and all the funds collected go towards a new social project, that of opening a house able to welcome young homeless kids, as well as keeping it up and running.

My favourite from the evening was Kim Stumpf's amazingly cosy coats, the creative yet elegant Delvaux bags and the gorgeous super feminin five dresses created by Sandrina Fasoli. Thank you to Tom and Stijn for having me for the evening.

Brussels is one of those cities that come SUnday is fairly 'dead'. You might remember my previous post here on good places to go on a Sunday in Brussels. Well, this weekend the Brunch Affair took place, and so I decided to go and take a look. It brought together - under one roof - Belgian designers from all around.

Tonight I am off to check out Delvaux's Summer 2013 collection and stay tuned for a giveaway that will take place this week.

You might (or probably won't) remember a while back I was very kindly invited by Stephan to come and have my hair done. To be honest I very rarely go to the hair dressers because I never get what I actually had in mind or I just end up paying a ridiculous amount of money to have my ends snipped off, something i can do myseld with my kitchen scissors. This being said, I am certain that in the right hands and with the right expects one's high expectations can be fulfilled. I just never got around to it. So, of course I leaped at this opportunity. The change in the end was not radical but it does mean that I can just as easily have my hair parted to one side or straight down the middle. The experience was great, Stephan and his staff were amazing and extremely friendly (even though I look mad in a lot of the pictures, pay no notice) and their 'Salon' is at the heart of Brussels and easy to find. So if like me, you are looking for a great hair dressers in Brussels, why not give them a try. Thank you again for the lovely experience!
